Machinist

The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and CNC equipment to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. This position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual mills, lathes, grinders, and other shop equipment.

  • Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gauges, etc.) to verify part accuracy.

  • Monitor machining operations to ensure proper speeds, feeds, and tooling performance.

  • Perform first-article inspections and in-process checks per company procedures.

  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of work area per daily cleaning SOP.

  • Report broken or defective tooling and equipment immediately.

  • Perform basic machine maintenance and lubrication.

  • Assist with process improvement, tooling optimization, and job setup documentation.

  • Complete production travelers, time tracking, and inspection records in the ERP system (Odoo).

  • Follow all ITAR, ISO 9001, and safety procedures, including PPE and Lockout/Tagout requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade or technical certificate preferred.

  • 3+ years of machining experience (CNC and/or manual) in a job-shop or manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and GD&T.

  • Experience with G-code and CNC controls (e.g., Haas, Fanuc, or Mazak) preferred.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with inspection tools and quality documentation.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Must meet ITAR requirements for access to controlled technical data.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

  • Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for precision work.

Work Environment

  • Industrial shop setting with exposure to noise, dust, and machining fluids.

  • Safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear required.
